I have been meaning to look at this, and have failed to get round to it.
I note a Travis failure, is that an expected error?

Do you think that this belongs in 2.8 or 2.9? (at the time of the submission 2.8 was master).

this should go in 2.9 dev this pr is a attempt to support python3
travis is failing because 2.7 still used in the build process

I should ask @rene-dev he is also looking at python 3 support

this PR can be closed I don’t know if already implemented on other PR
