After 17 false starts I am ready to try again. My environment is laser etching which uses either Arduino Nano with Grbl 1.1f or STM32F303K8 with home brew firmware. Have reworked controller to accept ESP32 NodeMCU-2S boards and would like to confirm a few points.

1. The 6 I/O pins, GPIO6 thru GPIO11, are not to be used.
2. GPIO13 can be used for Spindle PWM.
3. The 5V pin is an output when board is connected to USB.
4. The spacing across the board is 0.9 inch.

It appears that not all boards marketed as ESP32 NodeMCU-2S are created equal. Found boards with 30, 36, & 38 pins.

I think your pinout is OK. Here is a pinout of that board. You can look at cpu_map.h to see some examples.

The 5V pin is an output or can be used to power the board. As an output it is directly pulling from the USB 5V. The ESP32 can draw a lot of power with the radios on, so adding anything more than a few mA, could cause problems.

I use the 38 pin versions. The Node MCU is 0.9 wide and the ESP32 Dev board V4 is 1.00 wide. They both work fine, but the V4 is better quality. The Node MCU often needs to have the boot button pushed to program.
