I can’t understand the official documentation.. My chip is an ESP32-S3. After replacing esptool.exe. with the latest version and modifying set BaseArgs=–chip esp32s3 –baud 921600 in both install-wifi.bat and checksecurity.bat, when I double-click install-wifi.bat, I get the following message:
win64\esptool.exe –chip esp32s3 –baud 921600 dump_mem 0x3ff5a018 4 SecurityFuses.bin
Warning: Deprecated: Command ‘dump_mem’ is deprecated. Use ‘dump-mem’ instead.

Secure boot is enabled on this ESP32
Loading FluidNC would probably brick it

To the FluidNC team: Thank you so much for all your hard work and commitment. You guys are amazing, and I really appreciate everything you do.

Don’t use the installer package for S3; it doesn’t work yet. Use WebInstaller. <https://installer.fluidnc.com/>

Thank you again. Just to confirm, does this support the ESP32-S3?

Why not try it and find out?

Yes, I tried it several times. Although I noticed that version 3.9.8 was released on 2025-08-04 and only had an option for the ESP32-WROOM, I tried installing it anyway. The webpage showed a successful installation on my ESP32-S3, and the indicator light stayed on, but I couldn’t find the ESP32-S3’s Wi-Fi network. I also failed to access it by typing the IP address 192.168.0.1 into my browser. I tried changing the baud rate and re-flashing, but the result was the same. The serial monitor showed: 0xffffffff invalid header: 0xffffffff.

3.9.8 does not work on S3. The web installer should not have even tried to install it. I will contact the author of the web installer to try and fix that. The invalid header is due to the fact that ESP32 and ESP32-S3 have different bootloader locations. There was an early version of s3test with the wrong bootloader location in the manifest that web installer uses. I fixed that yesterday and WebInstaller now seems to install correctly on my S3.
The only version that has a chance of working on S3 is s3test. We are working hard to stabilize it. Perhaps you should wait until we are ready with an official release.

The S3 requires special firmware.
